A VBAC at the Denver Center for Birth

Rebecca, my associate photographer, has been working with me for over two years now. In early 2018, I brought her on full-time, which means she's documenting even more beautiful birth stories for Monet Nicole - Birthing Stories. Rebecca is one of the kindest and most gentle women I know, and she was the perfect photographer for Ashley's birth.

Ashley was one of Colorado's FIRST VBACs at a free-standing birth center. The Denver Center for Birth and Wellness cared for Ashley and her family...and supported her during her beautiful and peaceful water birth. Rebecca and I do several births at the birth center each month. We love Shari, their midwife, and their entire team. I even had the honor of photographing the owner's birth in early 2016!

Ashley arrived at the birth center fully dilated. She waited for over an hour to feel the urge to push (which is actually totally normal...just because you're fully dilated does not mean it's time to have your baby!) When the urge came, she was ready! She gave birth to her sweet girl in the water, just as she'd hoped. What I loved most about this birth story is when big sisters came in to meet their baby sister. The looks on their faces is just priceless.
