A Quick and Peaceful Homebirth in Baker
Evin and I had our babies a few weeks apart from each other. This was one of the last births I attended before I had my second baby...and oh my goodness...it was so empowering to watch Evin embrace her birth as I prepared for my own.
When we had met, Evin told me her own mother had fast labors. She didn't want to read too much into it, but she thought she might follow the same pattern.
When Evin went into labor, she updated me and her midwife via text until she thought it was time for us to join her. We arrived at her beautiful house in Baker, a neighborhood in central Denver, and found her laboring in the basement. After observing her for a few minutes, both her midwife and I thought it would probably be awhile before baby made her way earthside.
We were so very wrong!
Within the hour, Evin began instinctively pushing. Her midwife couldn't believe it...and I couldn't either. But sure enough, Evin was giving birth! She reached down and caught her own baby. Her midwife didn't even have time to put both of her hands in the water. Evin welcomed her sweet baby into her arms, and we all marveled at her strength, beauty, and grace.
