Denver Birth Photographer at Mountain Midwifery Center: the Birth of Stella

Jessica emailed me on her due date. I love surprises like that! She had seen some of my photography hanging at her birth place: Mountain Midwifery Center, and she wanted to see if there was anyway I could squeeze her in. I love working with first time parents, and I love working at Mountain Midwifery Center, so the answer was an easy yes. 

Jessica's labor started on Friday and lasted until she gave birth on Sunday night. When labors are long (as many first time labors are) it can be hard to keep both your physical and emotional strength. Thankfully, Jessica had formed an incredible team of support. She was surrounded by her parents and her sweet husband, as well as the amazing staff at Mountain Midwifery Center. Together, they worked to bring sweet Stella into the world. Throughout it all, Jessica remained steadfast. She walked the halls, she got in and out of the tub, she melted in between contractions, allowing her body to rest. Mountain Midwifery Center is one of the only birth places in Colorado that offer Nitrous Oxide, and you can see Jessica using it in one of the images below. It was just what she needed at the very end. I loved seeing the joy on her face when baby Stella finally came up and out of the water and into her arms.
