Unmedicated Birth at Memorial Central in Colorado Springs

Rachel and I met when we both worked at a small boutique in Colorado Springs. We loved working together in this small creative store (very similar to anthropologie) and over the course of a few years...we both found ourselves happily married and loving a brand new chapter of life. I had the honor of photographing Rachel's first birth in 2015, and when she got pregnant again, I couldn't wait to document her second. 

Rachel is one of those women who makes labor look easy. In fact, I almost missed her first birth because she progressed so quickly. With her second birth, I knew I needed to arrive sooner rather than later, especially since I now lived in Denver, which was an hour drive from Colorado Springs. Rachel's second birth unfolded beautifully, just like her first. Once contractions started, they came on strong, and within just a couple hours she felt the urge to push. She listened to her body, she labored with peace and determination. And she pushed out her son with just a couple of strong pushes. It was just as magical as the first time, and I was so grateful to photograph her second motherhood journey.
