As a birth photographer and doula based in Denver, I’m honored to be invited into the birth space…including the operating room. Being able to document my clients’ birth stories…no matter where or how they happen is a gift. Many cesarean families report that birth images allow them to better process and integrate the birth experience, especially since they often aren’t able to see a majority of their birth. Over the years, I’ve watched more and more hospitals in Denver allow an additional support person in the OR as well as offer the option for a gentle cesarean birth.

Many of us spend a lot of time envisioning not only our birth day…but also our birth space. How it will look, smell, even feel.And while I firmly believe you don’t actually need anything to birth your baby…I do think it can be beneficial to take the time and energy to bring items that will make you feel safe, supported, and peaceful.

Many of my birth clients are curious about or planning a waterbirth. My first two babes were born “on land” and my last two babes were born in the water. I’m so grateful for each of my different birth experiences, but I did LOVE how it felt to labor, transition, and then birth my baby in the water. Here in Denver, we have several options for waterbirth (and thankfully most, if not all hospitals in Denver, allow you to labor in birth tubs as long as you don’t have an epidural). Below are the best options if you want to birth your baby underwater!
